Each session includes writing prompts, craft lessons, and time for optional sharing. Participants will learn new writing techniques to process emotions, find clarity, and foster resilience.

The Evergreen Course is led by Kelly Harwood, professional writer, Master Certified Life Coach and founder of Harwood Narrative Coaching. She has taught English and creative writing to adults and teens for over twenty years and earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Kelly believes that life, like writing, is a creative act. To do it well, we must see ourselves as the protagonist of our own life stories.

College-Bound Narrative Coaching

Additional Details:

Narrative coaching for college-bound seniors goes beyond editing and proofreading; it delves into the heart of each student's story, aspirations, and values. In early sessions, Kelly will work as a thinking partner to help clients articulate and organize their thoughts before sitting down to write. Through the drafting process, Kelly will offer clients line-by-line personalized writing instruction to address any recurring problems with grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, or syntax. In their final meetings, Kelly will help clients to polish and perfect their essays so they are ready to submit.

Kelly designed this coaching model as a personalized program for all students, regardless of GPA or writing experience. Kelly's approach meets students where they are to help them craft essays that resonate with admissions committees and scholarship panels and stand out in a competitive pool.

Kelly recommends that students come to her before starting their essays, as part of the process involves outlining and organizing. The number of coaching sessions needed varies per student depending on writing ability, number of applications, preparation, and student commitment. A minimum of 3 sessions is recommended. Limited space available.
